Dr Abhirup Lobo is a highly trained Orthopaedic surgeon with an expertise in upper limb surgery. He is specialised to treat fractures, dislocations and tendon injuries of the upper limb. He is subspecialised to treat hand, wrist, elbow and peripheral nerve conditions. He is an expert in the treatment of conditions using cutting edge keyhole techniques such as endoscopy and arthroscopy.
He was raised and educated in Melbourne where he attended Melbourne High School and the University of Melbourne. He has had a special interest in sports since childhood, specifically, cricket and soccer.
He has undergone internationally recognised subspecialty training in Melbourne, Perth and the UK. After subspecialty training in Melbourne, he trained under the care of Dr Jeff Ecker, who trained Dr Lobo in wrist arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgery techniques. He was recognised for his talents and was accepted into the very competitive and highly sought after fellowship at Wrightington, UK. This is a British accredited fellowship program where Dr Lobo honed his skills in joint replacement surgery of the hand, wrist and elbow and peripheral nerve and brachial plexus surgery with the brightest and best surgeons in the UK.
He holds a public appointment at Eastern Health and Latrobe Regional Health. He attends Knox Private Hospital, Maryvale Private Hospital, Box Hill Hospital, Maroondah Hospital and Latrobe Regional Health.
