What are the symptoms of wrist instability?
The common symptoms are pain, stiffness and clunking when you move your wrist.
How do you investigate this?
After our consultation, I order xrays, a CT and a MRI of your wrist to get further information. Instability can occur due to a ligament tear or an old fracture.
What is the recovery time from surgery?
Most patients return to their daily activities within a few days. We recommend patients to keep the wounds dry for 12 days. I will refer you to a hand therapist who will make a custom made thermoplastic splint and commence gentle wrist and finger exercises. You may start strengthening exercises at eight weeks after surgery and this is when you may start driving again.
